Fred Fowler was born in Nipigon, Ontario in 1949. He is the sixth of sixteen children. All through school, Fred and his siblings were recognized as being prolific in the arts.

Fred's formal art education started in the last three years of high school with drafting. After high school, in 1968 Fred, attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Art and in 1970, he returned to Canada and studied art at Toronto's well known "The Three Schools". Since then Fred has continued improving his art techniques by attending many art courses, workshops and seminars.

Today, Fred paints in all mediums but focuses mostly on oil and watercolour using various techniques from basic painting styles to monotype styles.

Much of Fred's art is in private and public collections in Canada and the United States.

Fred conducts workshops, passing on some of his techniques and knowledge to others who want to expand and improve on their art.
