[Pottery]

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Sherry moved to Montreal, Quebec, in 1959.

A long time resident of Montreal, she became interested in art as a hobby to pursue with her husband, Stuart Vallentgoed.  Since retiring and moving to their cottage on Bass Lake in 1996, she has received a Certificate of Fine Arts from St. Lawrence College.  She took up pottery in 2001 and found a love of the hands-on treatment of pottery and the thrill of anticipation each time she opens a kiln.  Her pottery reflects the practical side of her personality while the glazing and decorating fulfils the artistic side.

While she does not consider talent her long suit, painting and pottery has made her look at this world differently and appreciate the ordinary as extraordinary.
