Jessica Godin

Jessica Godin is an artist who was born in Newcastle, New Brunswick. She has also lived across Canada from Edmonton to Halifax. While living in Halifax she studied at NSCAD University and obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts, specializing in Painting with a Minor in Drawing. Jessica currently resides in Perth, Ontario.

Jessica’s work is inspired by the landscapes of Eastern Ontario, especially the lakes and forests. She works primarily in acrylic paint, abstracting, simplifying, and then highlighting these scenes. Her work acknowledges the past work of Canadian landscape painters, but then experiments with a fresh feel with colour and paint application.

“With my paintings today, I am thinking about how I can convey the energy of a place or a moment in time with my work. Having the viewer feel the air in through the trees in my paintings is what I aspire to achieve.”
