WORKSHOPS

The RLAA offers 1 and 2 day workshops for its members. Workshops are conducted by either visiting artists or by RLAA members. Each workshop has limited registration with a defined objective, medium, suggested skill level, and a participation fee. They are also open to those outside of the RLAA for an increased fee.

Judy Hollinger - Two Day Portraiture Workshop 

April 18 - 19, 2026, 9 - 4pm
Members $150, Non-Members $200
Using charcoal and paint with the objective to produce one finished portrait based on a photo reference. Focusing on: observation and measurement, preparing a canvas and getting our painting started using various methods, styles of portrait from traditional to contemporary.

Barb Sohn - Acrylic Landscape Painting, with Layers

May 2, 2026 (1 Day)
Members $35, Non-Members $100
This is a 1 day workshop designed to introduce students to some techinques of Barb's intuitive approach to interpreting landscape and water in acrylic paints. 

Tori Smyth - Tri-Art Acrylic Medium Exploration

June 6 - 7, 2026
Members $150, Non-Members $200
Participants will get an introduction to some of Tri-Art's acrylic paint lines and their acrylic mediums and how you can use these mediums with your own practice and to level up your acrylic painting skills. Working with Tori's personal style of painting, participants will start with some floral inspiration to create a painting through the weekend, using acrylic paints and acrylic mediums to experiment with colours, textures, and more!

Colleen Gray - the Magic of Watercolour and Synthetic Paper

Explore a beautiful, meditative, and sometimes unpredictable, contemporary medium. You'll see how to use your watercolours in a whole new way.
